United Ways of Tennessee is a statewide organization providing member support services to 39 United Ways throughout the state. As Tennessee's leading community solutions provider, United Way is the driving force behind many initiatives that provide solutions to our state's most critical needs.
United Ways in Tennessee provided more than $100 million in funding last year to more than 1,300 agencies and programs, meeting the most diverse and essential needs of Tennesseans, such as:
* Literacy programs
* Initiatives creating economic opportunity
* Enrichment programs for children and youth
* Domestic violence prevention and services
* Assistance to vulnerable and aging populations
In addition to traditional agency funding, United Ways are directly involved in initiatives that address crucial community needs, including:
* Supporting the development of 46 pre-K classrooms across the state this year alone
* Statewide infant mortality prevention grant
* 211, the statewide, 24/7 information and referral line
* Early childhood intervention programs
* HIV/AIDS initiatives
* Crisis readiness and homeland security
* Family resource centers
