Tocqueville Society - Annual Dinner - 2007United Way's Tocqueville Society annual member dinner, hosted by Tocqueville Society co-chairs Mary Ruth Shell and Bill Cochran, was held at the Vanderbilt Residence. Founded locally by Dr. Thomas F. Frist Jr. in 1981, the society was launched nationally through United Way of America in 1984. With nearly 300 local members, the society provides nearly a third of Untied Way of America's annual campaign revenue.
