R.H. Boyd Society

The R.H. Boyd Leadership Society is a way for African-Americans to connect and become more involved in philanthropic giving of money, time and talents to the community at large. Membership in the R.H. Boyd Leadership Society offers the opportunity for networking with other like-minded individuals. The goals of the R.H. Boyd Leadership Society are to:

Increase Donors: to inform African-American leaders and prospective R.H. Boyd Leadership Society members of how the African-American community currently participates in and benefits from the United Way process. This will be done through social, educational and personal development opportunities.

Recruit Volunteers: broaden opportunities for greater representation in decision-making and policy formation in Nashville's non-profit community. In addition, encourage participation in United Way's input and decision-making process among a targeted group of existing volunteers.

Cultivate Leaders: to identify and recruit African-American leadership level donors (annual gift of $1,000 or more). Also, to encourage annual increases for future participation in United Way's Cockrill Society ($5,000 annual gift) and or Alexis de Tocqueville Society ($10,000 annual gift).  African-American philanthropic leaders will also have the opportunity to participate in customized leadership training to enhance their leadership skills.
