Ensuring the preservation of the state's pre-k program is United Ways of Tennessee's top public policy priority for 2011.
Why support pre-k? For starters, Peabody Research Institute at Vanderbilt University released the first-ever study of the state's voluntary pre-k program. This rigorous, longitudinal study demonstrates that children who attend Tennessee's nationally recognized pre-k program fare much better than their peers who do not.
